Hockey Canada Foundation Areas of Focus
The Hockey Canada Foundation provides a new source of secure, sustainable, long term funding to support the future development and delivery of Hockey Canada's programs, projects, and activities. Our areas of focus are:
Skill Development & Qualified Coaching - Developing fundamental skills at the grassroots level and providing high-level resources to coaches.
Accessibility & Diversity - Supporting growth of female and sledge hockey, recruiting and supporting new players and groups.
Health & Wellness - Promoting a healthy game while building life skills based on core values of respect and responsibility.
Athlete & Alumni Support - Preparing players to represent Canada while recognising those who have done so at past events.
Facilities - Addressing issues related to Canada's aging arenas, while looking for opportunities to build new rinks.
Hockey Canada Foundation Funding Initiatives
Please find program descriptions below that outline programs that require further funding.
Accessibility to Hockey
Funds donated in this area will go to programs for disadvantaged kids by giving them the chance to play hockey. Programs such as Dreams Come True and One Goal provide these kids with brand new equipment, paid registration fees, and participation in a skills camp, all free of charge.
The Hockey Canada Foundation is continuously addressing issues to our aging hockey facility infrastructure and lack of new rink capacities in Canada. The HCF supports leading edge initiatives aimed at keeping Canada's rinks upgraded and accessible to all Canadians.
Sledge Hockey Development
Sledge hockey is becoming one of the fastest growing disabled sports in Canada. Both able and disabled men and women are able to participate in this sport by using “sleds” and modified hockey sticks to play the game. Funding is needed to make the sport more accessible to participants through development skills camps and programs.
Hockey Canada sets the international precedent for promoting female growth within the game of hockey. Female Development Programs have been established to not only recruit more females to the game but also to provide development opportunities to players, coaches and officials in the game at all levels. Female Hockey Opportunities continue to grow through the Female Program of Excellence for players coaches and official, which provide vital tools and information for participants to incorporate into their training and seasonal programs.
Hockey Canada Foundation General Endowment Fund
The Foundation accepts donations for the purpose of establishing and growing a selection of endowment and general purpose funds. Caring Canadianss who want to give back to the game can now do so knowing their gift to the HCF will have an impact on generations to come.
